Integrated Video Card Query

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if you can help me with this little question as I am not sure what I should be seeing.

Ok in my computer I have 128Mb ATI Radeon 9100 AGP Graphics (SMA) with TV-Out. This is integrated graphics. When I look at system properties or direct X diagnostics it shows the video memory as 32Mb.

Is this because it is integrated graphics with shared memory or should it be showing the 128Mb?

The problem is on the website I bought the computer from it is stated as: 128Mb ATI Radeon 9100 AGP Graphics (SMA) with TV-Out Port and I assumed that to mean 128Mb of graphics memory should show up.

Thanks in advance!

What is your system memory being reported as?

What I really want to know is the card using 32 MB of system memory or 128 MB.

What is the AGP Aperture size in BIOS?

If you increase the AGP Aperture size in BIOS does the graphic card memory increase?

Hey,

System memory is showing as 992MB Ram - I have 2 512Mb cards inserted.

I looked in the BIOS and the AGP aperture size is set to 256Mb.

I tried increasing the aperture size to double, the video memory remained the same at 32Mb. So are the company advertising this correctly?

Thanks for your help!

The card is definately using 32 MB and changing the AGP Aperture size in BIOS does not increase the amount of shared memory used.

The only other way is for a setting in the graphic card to be altered for it to 'grab' more of the system memory.

If this is the case you should be able to adjust the settings using Control Panel > Display > Settings

Well I went into my BIOS looking for anything with 32Mb next to it. I saw that UMA Frame Buffer Size was set at 32Mb so I changed it to 128Mb and guess what . . . the video card memory is now 128Mb.

Now why couldn't the tech support guy tell me this instead of trying to sell me a new integrated chip at cost price???

Oh well thanks for all your help!!
