Question Overclocking!!

Im a overclocking virgin. I admit that. MY question is simply can i simply boost my pentium 2.4ghz speed just by changing the internal frequency in the bios? its currently set to 100mhz and the multiplyer is 24 (which it wont let me change). so any advice would be appreciated!

Before you actually overclock your system you need to 'overcool' it - research which heatsinks are within your budget and are they any good for extreme temperatures.

Make one mistake with the cooling and you can write off £$ x 100s of hardware.

Next you need to research your Hardware clocking capabilities.

Can you adjust the bus speed on the mobo?

Can you overclock your RAM?

Can you overclock your CPU?

Lots of questions that really only you can answer because nobody will assume responsibility for saying anything that could cause your system to cook.

Just look into some extensive research, overclock the sucker. But I must say that amd are overclockers choice simply beacuse the mutiplier is unlock for that reason. If you pay for something you should be able to do what you feel fits your needs. Hey why settle for an inch when you can get a yard. But I too do not support experiments, please make sure you know what your doing. I enjoy solving problems, information is what forums are for so dont be timide to ask around oon overclocking forums like chippings suggested.

After replying to this thread I looked into overclocking myself, found info I needed and within 30min, I overclocked my Celeron 2.0 400FSB to 2.6 533FBS, quite the change I must say, like christmas getting a new CPU. Not hard in my case I just added manually to the FBS in 3-5 increments and tested stability. Thanks for the idea, good luck on yours, keep us posted.

peace
