lacie dvd writer & conceptronic usb 2.0 pcmcia card are enemies?

I have a LaCie DVD+-RW Drive (USB 2.0) and a notebook with a Conceptronic USB 2.0 PCMCIA Card (No USB 2.0 in my computer) and it seems that the DVD Drive doesn't work (Windows XP doesn't recognize drive...). Does anyone know how I can solve the problem and enjoy the drive?...
