delay in bootup

hi all,

i have asusA7N266-VM motherboard ,athlon 2400 xp processor,256DDR ram,40gb seagate harddisk,win2000pro.

when i start the comp the screen showing memory test appears and then it takes fewminutes(not normal)for the password request screen to come.the keyboard also doesnt work during and after bootup.then i restart(from windows menu) ,it restarts without any delay.the keyboard also starts working.

the whole system is 6months old.

Previously(before 2months) i had a problem of system not bootingup and the motherbrd was serviced by authorized dealer a

please help me to identify problem,i think the service person unable to do it.
thank you,
ck

few minutes to password screen ?????? are you serious ? dude take that computer back to that deal and slap it on his lap,, tell him you want your money back.... that's crazy... you have a defective mother board and the they have to replace it for you... I would intentionally kill the RAM too just so they would replay that too (it must be under warranty)

cheers

give us more data..

when i start the comp the screen showing memory test appears and then it takes fewminutes(not normal)for the password request screen to come.

*** check the settings of your bios if the re is an option for the mem test..
*** You put password on the bios?

the keyboard also doesnt work during and after bootup.then i restart(from windows menu)

*** how can you restart it if the keyboard is not working (during and after bootup?) so its not functioning at all?
*** have you test safe mode? any do you still encounter errors?

,it restarts without any delay.the keyboard also starts working.
*** it restart without any delay? some cases.. this may cause by a virus or a faulty parts.. try to start with your mem..

the whole system is 6months old.
*** doesnt matter how new or old your system.. you can encounter it even in brand new ones..

*** please give us more details..

hi cxxxkies,

sorry for the inadequate description of the problem.i dont know about the technical part of computers!!

ans to ur question i restart using mouse(mouse works fine).other qns i am unable to answer, sorry.

i had given the system to authorised service person,he claims that the mobo works fine.so i thought if i could pinpoint the problem to the moboard, i could make him replace it.

its still with him,if i again get the faulty board back ,maybe i have to go to consumercourt etc.

thanks for ur time
