Could you be more specific than "lagging".
How much memory is installed?
What OS is it?
Do you mean it starts to slow down after 30 mins? Is there much disk activity at the time?
Try restarting when the slowdown occurs.
Does this provide a temporary cure?

memory installed is 256 megs
windows 98 is the OP system
yes it slows down maybe after 30 to 45 minutes after being on like the slide bar on the side on internet explorer or just on the email i slide it up and down or use the wheel on the mouse and it does nothing till it catches up with me and then it goes up and down ever how many times i done the wheel on the mouse
i usually have to restart it when it starts acting that way because that is the only way i can get something done with the computer or i just tirn it off for then and come back later on to it

and yes restarting it does temporary solve the problem

Thanks for the reply

Even though you have 256 megs of ram, it does sound like the memory is running low for some reason and the delays are caused by pagefile access.
You you do a lot of starting and stopping programs?

i think you might have caught something. Run the usual scans for virus etc.

The question is your machine is lagging, the answer has probably been given, you need to check your startup files, IF you have too many, you need to stop some of them loading, because if your machine works ok for 30 minutes, but then lags, too many programs could be causing it.

Start -
Run -
Msconfig -
Start up -

Remove the ticks.
OK &* restart afterwords when prompted
