Format / Server Scan problem

I'm having a problem formatting my hard drive. I can format it, but when I try to perform a server scan, it gets stuck. It's done this 2-3 times. Any suggestions?

server scan?

i dont remember doing any kind of scan when i format my hdd.

Possibly you mean a surface scan? If this gets stuck it would indicate a fault of the HDD.
