Very Strange Problem

Hey guys,

Awesome forums guys, I have a strange problem that many techs cant find the problem to and say that my mobo is fried. Hmmmm but I dont think thats it so here I go:
My CD-ROM will not work, I have placed a music CD into the CD-ROM and played the music via head phones and I have music, I have slaved the CD-ROM off the HDD but still nothing. I have changed CD-ROM and still dosnt work. I have changed IDE strap and still dosnt work. I have reset my BIOS and still nothing. My computer will just boot up runs the POST and dosnt pick up my computer so I thought it was a problem with the MOBO and not sure. Any suggestions???

This problem is on my Windows XP comp,
Dell 2400 Dimenson, 2.4Ghz Intel Celeron, 256MB or DDR-SDRam. I know its a Celeron and Dell but its not my main computer so not worried about the CPU.

Regards
James

How far does the Power On Self Test (POST) get before stopping ...

Is it doing a RAM Count?

Does it see your HDD?

Does it see internal peripherals such as sound card etc?

Don't let the headphone socket on the CDROM Drive fool you, it will work because the music is not being sent to the Motherboard (mobo).

The POST dosnt stop, Its sees my HDD and sees my peripherals no probs at all. The test with the head phones into the CD-ROM is just to see if the CD-ROM is working.
