Exclamation sound realted - please just read

My speakers are connected perfectly fine,
I use onboard sound Avance AC'97 Audio
Windows says my sound devices and drivers are working and are up to date.

BUT NO SOUND!!!

when i play something, i can see its playing it but i hear NOTHING.
for winamp, the visualizers move but i cant hear crap.

YES my volume is up
YES everything plugged in correctly
YES i enabled the onboard sound through BIOS
JUST NO FRIKIN SOUND!!!

NO the cables aren't snipped or anything like that.
NO it is not the speakers that are ****ed up, I tried my headfones but those didnt work either. (2 different sets of headfones)

I have an IT Essentials: I certificate from Cisco. this may sound stupid and it may seem like i should deal with this but this is something rediculous. I'm at sophomore in highschool and I'm probably at the top of my class when it comes to PC's and YES i have computer courses. I just can't seem to find out what the friking problem is. I thought of everything and if you can help me, I'll be more than thankful

ok so heres the story...

i've been using the onbaord sound for a while until i got a Sound Blaster LIVE! 5.1 Digital Sound card. The sound card isntallation never worked right so i just isntaleld the drivers through Windows XP. Recently, my sister got a new comptuer with 5.1 piece speakers but her onboard sound didnt support it so i had to give her my sound card.

after i took it out, i went back to Realtek Avance AC'97 Audio on my motherboard. It worked when i used the drivers cd my computer came with to install the sound but when i tried to get the LATEST drivers from the internet, my sound died as soon as i installed the drivers.

i'm really upset and confused.....

Have you tried removing the updated drivers and going back to your original drivers on the drivers cd your computer came with.

Realtec ac97 problems as well

SIS 651 chipset
Motherboard: asus p4s533-mx

looking for that fabled V5.10.0.362

I've downloaded and tried three or four different versions of the realtec drivers and nothing works for me.

If someone could send me a version of V5.10.0.362 or earlier that'd be sweet.

Wuzgood,

I know you've uninstall and reinstall and this that and the other, have you tried to format your PC and put it back to factory settings?

I wouldn't do that as I don't see this working, format the PC and put it to it's original factory settings.
