Unhappy Wireless card problems

Hi,
Just today i brought a BT Voyager 2100 Wireless ADSL modem router with...

1x Voyager 1040 PCI card for desktops

1x Voyager 1060 PC card for laptops

Hook up the laptop card turn it on, perfect works fine..
Then comes the PCI, i installed the disk fitted the card into the PCI slot (i only have 1 free) turn on the computer... and nothing, windows didn't detect it so i went out and brought a belkin 802.11g Wireless Desktop Network Card and got the exact same problem.

Is it faultly PCI Slot, if so what can i do?

Thanks.

If you only have the laptop and 1 PC using the router then you shouldn't need the wireless PCI Card in the PC. Connect the PC to the router using your exisiting NIC and just use the wireless for the laptop.

Yup, I've just bought the Voyager 2100 wireless hub and a Voyager 1040 PCI card - the other PC, an HP Pavillion laptop has a built-in infra-red wireless card. After 48 hours of heart reandering frustration, with no thanks to BT, HP or Microsoft, I landed on a forum that talked me through getting the laptop to talk to the hub and share files and printers with the main PC gubbins. Alas no success with the 1040 wireless desktop adapter that sits right next to the main 2100 hub. Intermittent disruption to the connection, slow loading and non-existant connections have gone unexplained by anyone - faulty card? poor reception? Well the laptop can connect permanently from another part of the house, one floor up and through brick walls!!!! What is wrong with the 1040? I'm thinking of wiring the PC and only having the laptop as a wireless connection, but this defeats having a wireless network. Help please!

Voyager 1040

I've got the BT Voyager 2100 router with 1060 Laptop and 1040 Desktop adapters. The 1040 does not work (it did for a week or so). Little green box in the corner states 'wireless connection unavailable' and the voyager does not register in the utility box. Changed the 1040 with a new one and the same problem. BT, at 50p minute told me to change the 1040 which I've done. PC World told me to up load SP2 for my windows XP home version, which I've done. PC conects via cable but means running cable across floor, not an option. Thanks in advance

Try changing the wireless channel from '1' (default) to '10' using the wireless configuration screen for the voyager - it worked for me!

Different Channel

Nope, tried that. But thanks for the suggestion. It is like the transmitter is turned off BUT the laptop is picking it up fine and all the lights are on fine.

Done It

BT actualy phoned me after complaints from me to their e-mail help desk.
The sender was set as 'hidden' which meant that the computer did not see it when I had to reinstall the software. Simple as that but took 2 guys 30 mins to sort out. This after I'd already taken one back because it may or may not have been faulty!
