Red face Dispaly Problem - Screen upside down

I have a 2.8 GHz HT(Intel) with D865GVHZ MB running under Windows 2000. Recently while playing a game, suddenly the screen went upside down. On further investigation, I could make out that this problem comes only when I use the display mode 640 x 480. On any other display mode, the display is OK. Could you offer a solution for this

Is it just when you play the game?
If that is the case then it is the game not windows causing the problem

Display problem - Screen upside down

First of all I would like to thank bbeard67 for answering my query. However answer to the specific query of bbeard67 are as follows:

Though the problem started with a game only, later I found that it parmanently affected the 640 x 480 mode of display. All the games run with 640 x 480 mode. Hence after the problem started, whenever a game is run, the screen turns upside down. First I thought it is the problem with DirectX driver. But later when I changed the display setting to 640 x 480 mode manually, immediately the screen turned upside down. Again if you change to any other mode e.g. 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768, the problem vanishes.

I deinstalled the display adapter and then re-installed intel extreme gaphics. But the problem persists. Is it possible that a startup program while booting changing the settings for this mode? Can any one throw some light to sort out this problem?

In Control Panel>Display>Settings tab>Advanced button, look for settings relating to display or screen position.

Newer video cards have the capability to flip the display 90 and 180 degrees for use with LCD screens that can be rotated.

Dear Miz,

Your suggestion solved the problem. The rotation was 180 degree in 640x480 mode. I set it to Normal and screen came back to normal.

Thanks a lot
