RAID 0+1 question

I am currently running two indentical Western Digital 80GB, 8MB cache IDE drives in a RAID 1 (mirror) configuration. I would like to run a RAID 0+1 (stripe + mirror) setup. I have a couple of identical 40GB drives here. Is it possible to add them to the mix to get the performance benefit of striping, or must all 4 drives be indentical?

Thumbs up

I think you can use different size drives, however if your stripping and 80gig with a 40gig you will only get 80gig out of them. The price of drives now days I would get a couple more 80gig drives and go all out.
