CDRW won't read blank CDs

I have a Philips PCRW804 drive...it used to work fine, but after some Windows software issues (coincidence?) it won't read blank CDs. It does recognize CDs with content on them, just doesn't regognize a blank CD. Using Adaptec CD Creator 4.05 and have all current upgrades. Not sure what to think of this. Does this sound like a hardware or software problem? Any ideas? Thanks.

Well not sure what WIN you are using but try the Default one in Win XP. Or try a diff OS, or on a friends comp you really need to isolate the problem.
