[Xp]hard disk, activated, no letter, tried assigning

okay,

i recently did a system upgrade for a friend (new mobo, RAM, HDD, GFX card) and the computer wouldnt boot from start: blue screen of death, some clash with the original system setup methinks...

so i tried what ive done before, use the second hard drive as a boot drive so i can get onto windows, so i can then copy over stuff which was needed, but the drive wassnt shown (active) but not shown, so i tried assigning it a letter, but it wouldnt have any of it.

need to know how to go about getting it shown to copy the stuff off the disk!

Cheers

Ste

need more specifics: please ask!
