Angry Sound card of doom

Well this little creative CT5880 was doing its job so I decided just to leave it be instead of upgrading it earlier but now since I started try to use the mic input all there is a strange interference in the background, kinda like a single soft drum once a second. I checked and there are no drums anywhere near it so I'm counting that out Anyway this is a small annoyance compared to the sudden slowdown that seems to arise if i play too many sounds at once. The frequency drops and everything is lower pitched and slower and it stays like this unless I reboot. The installed drivers are the XP ones. I've tried looking through just about every setting I can find and nothing seems amiss.

p.s If Jonathan has one spare sound card lieing around I would gladly buy it (If its any good)

Talking

I have a supreme high quality one from my P60 if you want, it might be ISA but I think it is PCI, I will check.

Not much quality if I remember correctly, depends what you want to do with it. If its just for heraing your browser go click each time you click a hyperlink it will do fine but it probably won't be much good for DVDs. Its midi play back is appauling.
You could borry it and see how good it is if you want?

Sound card of doom

Uncheck the Mic in sound properties. Does this sound go away?
Unchecking this will not usually disable the mic, only the feedback.
(The mic amplifing the speaker output in a loop)

Good luck, Don
