[Re:] Recommend a Good Printer using XP Pro

I have a new Dell PowerEdge 400SC Server with Windows XP Pro, 1GB ram, Norton System Works, Norton Firewall, can someone recommend a good reliable printer to buy?

I have a hp deskjet 5650 that worked good with my old Dell and Windows Me, but with many attempts a hp support I cannot get it to work, may have something to to do with networking, don't know.

I have used hp technical support and installed drivers, uninstalled, removed hardware, reinstalled hardware, change spool until I'm blue in the face.

However, the hp printer test passed;

Hold down the power button and press the down arrow key 4 times with the printer cable disconnected from the computer worked, so support says my printer is functional.

Bought a new high end cable from Altex reinsatalled from computer to printer, no help.

Any suggestions? The printer is ok, the drivers are the latest from hp, the cable is good, power is good, may be the config, but don't know how to do any changes.

What is a good reliable, easy to install printer to use on my new computer? Less than $200.00.

Help,

i bought a cheap($30us) hp 3520 works really great. the main reason i bought it was the ink was $18 for black and $21 for color at the local wal-mart. i can get it cheaper off the net but if i run out i dont have to pay $30 or more to get it locally. i also have a lexmark x75 printer /scanner combo which works great but the ink is unreal $$. most of the new printers are cheap and work great, just see what ink it takes and check the prices. cannon has really good printers and some of their ink is like $9 or less. i hate the refill crap, it's a big mess and poor copy quality.
as for your current printer, i searched it and found alot of people with the same trouble, no real solutions. there was some that said they had that model and it worked fine, unless you need to set the bios.......let me find a link.

Thanks for the reply, the last support I got from HP today around 3pm worked! A support rep told me to switch to a USB cable setup, had to do a little config, but they tell you exactly how to do it online help is really great at HP, answers in a few minutes usually, bingo! Printing again.

I've recently replaced a HP 932c (lemon) with a Canon i960. Seems to do a good job and it wont break the bank to buy ink.
