ATi Game Crashes

I recently installed a new ati radeon 9800 pro graphic card to replace my nVidia geforce 3 ti 200. REALLY NICE GRAPHIC CARD!!! if i only had 8x agp instead i have 4x which is the minimum. I set everything upright supposibly. I started playing call of duty and is lasts for like 30 seconds in the game and it crashes. Every single time i play the game it crashes. Even in some of the less graphic needy games such as natural selection (half life mod) dont work. I dont think the comp is overheating cause i set my bios up to shut down at some extremly low temperature.I'm pretty sure im running a 290watt power supply. I installed sp2, latest catalyst driver, 512 ram, 1.47 ghz athlon procesor and a 7200 rpm hard drive. I even called up ati but they didnt help. They gave me what they thought was the solution and hung up. Does anyone know why this happens? And would it be a better idea to just return it and get a nVidia geforce 6600 agp?

just out of curiosity what exactly did they (ATi) say was the problem, i have just bought the 9200 and played that game (im not into that type of game tho) it seems to be running ok, in my experience it is usually down to the fact that the hardware is up the creek, and should be sent back, I had an old geforce 2 (OC'd) and it would open windows but after a while the whole thing slowed down and it would just stop, result graphics chipset blew out, in your case it might just be some missing solder, take it back to where ever you bought it from and ask if they would test it out and explain your problems to them,

I got it from circut city but they dont do testing. Usually they do it when it says "We'll install it" on the box. Unfortunately it wasnt on this box =\ I ll ask but i really need to get it fixed soon. If it doesnt get fixed i have to return it and if i return it its got to be this saturday i think. Could it possibly be my processor? and should i enable fast-write, agp write and agp read? i currently set all those as on except the fast write. What ati told me to do was set my agp speed to 4x instead of 1x. All it dead was make it last longer before it gave out not much help there but it was a small improvement.
