That is one of the most popular not to mention one of the best motherboards built.
What do you mean? Will the computer post? Or will it not boot into the operating system?
If it will not boot into the operating system you will need to do a repair install to get windows to recognize your new hardware.

sorry about the delay.. I have been busy..

A hem.. the computer will not even boot, there is power circulation throughout the mother board but no boot, but when I put back in the 2500 it started up again..

Anyways the story goes like this.. I packaged back up the CPU brough the sucker back into the "FRYS" customer service line for a return.. they took a look at it and said I received a burned chip.. Turns out I purchased the last amd 3200 xp athlon .. there (that's right the last one is always the poorest .. am I right ? ey?) So I ordered my new 3200 off newegg and should be arriving shortly..

Thanks for the help another Question may I ask... when I istall the new cpu.. it's a good idea to clear the CMOS? am I correct? (the yellow chip on the mobo)

You shouldn't need to do anything with the CMOS unless it dosen't auto detect CPU speeds, and then you just need to go into the bios and set CPU FSB and multipliers.

When you recieve the new CPU, drop it into place and boot. It should just boot normally into windows. Once your in, install clearinfo (google clearinfo) and at the top it will tell you the CPU type. If it does not say 'AMD 3200' then you need to fiddle with the settings in the bios. If not, your all good to go.
