New HDD not in Explorer, possible RAID conflict?
Hello all. I have a four disk RAID 0 array (controller built in to mobo, four 40gig IDE drives) which has always performed flawlessly. I recently added a new 120gig Western Digital hard drive outside of the RAID array, in the normal IDE slots on my mobo.
My bios detects and recognizes the drive just fine, as does Windows XP (pro). The drive appears in device manager, which says it is functioning fine, however the drive does not show up in Windows Explorer. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, switching the IDE cables around, and double checking the jumpers on the new hdd, all producing the same result.
Is there some reason that using the RAID array, I can't use a non-raided drive seperately of it? And if not, does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causeing this? It would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
