Laptop problem

Hey,

Whats up...im new to this place...so sorry if i post something in the wrong area. Let me tell you the whole story. I bought a lap top about 7 months ago (a compaq presario X1030US) and it worked just fine for the first 6 months. Then one day all of a sudden, at my login screen i saw lines running across the screen and it started to flicker. Then the screen went out, it was all black. I tried to boot it again, same thing, blank screen, i couldnt restart nor could i put it in hybernation mode. i had to wait for the battery to drain for it to turn off. so i sent it in to compaq and i got it back today, and i turn it on, i boot up and into windows and BAM, i get those lines across the screen again. I can see the screen this time, but now i cant even move the mouse, its like the screen is frozen at the desktop. cant do anything, please...anyone have any suggestions? im gonna call HP and chew them out big time! cant wait to do that. thanks!

if the laptop is still under warrenty, make sure it gets fixed by them before it expires......sounds like a driver issue, could be you downloaded SP2 with auto updates and it trashed your system like it does most people's. either way make them fix it, it's why you buy brand name computers. dont let friends work on it,...voids the warrenty.
laptop usually have the mfg's third party controller software for the keyboard, monitor among a few other devices....sp2 is more then likely the problem....being i seen 2 laptops this week with simular symptoms(dell, and sony). i went back to SP1 and added the sp2 blocker to them so they wont get the option for it untill april of next year.
