Hey guys/gals, i could really use some help :(
Well, here's the situation. I am using a brand new Dell Dimension 4700 PC. I have 4 memory slots, in the 1st slot is a 256 mb chip, 2nd slot is empty, 3rd slot is a 256 mb chip, and the 4th slot is empty. That was the standard memory when i got the comp. I just recently purchaed a PNY Technologies PC2700 512mb chip. I wanted to get 1 gb since i am about to start playing World of Warcraft. Now, i opened up my computer, and i tried putting in the 512 to the 2nd slot but at the bottom, where the gold part is, the little slit/opening doesnt align to where i can put it into the slot. So I took it out and reconnected everything and turned my comp back on and now instead of having 512 it says I have 256 mb and the 1st slot is unrecognized on the setup menu when i started the comp. So, then i opened it back up and i switched the one in the 3rd slot with the 1st and still same thing, 256. So, #1 most important thing right now is what to do about that... i want it to recognize the 1st slot so i can get my standard 512mb back. 2nd thing is what is a good solution to get 1 gb of memory... as in what should i buy/ should i put a 256 in the 2nd and 4th slots or just get another 512 this time with a compatible PC#?
Thank you for your time, and I would really appriciate some help.
