Gigabyte 7VAXP USB 2.0 Problems

512MB Crucial PC 2700 Ram
ADS Tech USB 2.0 Drive Kit with Maxtor ATA 133 Hard Drive
VIA Hyperion Latest drivers 4 in 1 4.45

The ADS Tech USB 2.0 drive kit does work > tested it on another machine.

I'm having problems getting USB 2.0 to work on this board. I first installed 98SE > cleared everything up in the Device Manager > then installed the USB 2.0 kit drivers > picked up the device without a problem > though 98 couldn't mount it because it's formatted NTFS.

Then installed Windows 2000 Professional > after clearing up the Device Mgr I tried getting the USB 2.0 drive kit to work > the machine basically locks up > takes forever before I can even get into the Device Mgr to look at anything.

In 98 I did all the Windows Updates. After getting frustrated in W2K I tried the USB 2.0 kit in 98 again > it freezes up > get a msgrv (?) 32 not responding error.

I downloaded the latest drivers from the Gigabyte web site and used those. I'm trying to figure out if I have board problem or if it's strictly driver problems. I just got this board so I need to figure this out.

With this board which drivers should I be using > is there a certain order they need to be installed?

Any tips/help ill be greatly appreciated!!!


Need to know if it's me or if I have a defective board > wouldn't be the first time I've had a MB with a problem.

Problem solved. Don't need the ADSTech drivers. Fresh install > used drivers from the MB CD > picked up the external USB 2.0 drive without any problems.
