Computer is on, monitor is blank.

This week, has not been my week. I was worried that my Athlon had been running too hot recently, and so I planned to go out and buy a case fan for it this weekend. Before I got a chance to, my power source died. So, today, I went to the store and bought a new 300 watt power source and a case fan. I got home, plugged everything in, and further problems have set in. Everything will start up (I can hear the hard drive, fans spin, led's light up), but I am getting absolutely nothing on my monitor, and no beeps from the PC speaker saying that my computer is starting up. What in the fuck is going on? I've tried taking absolutely everything out, and slowly adding it back in, and still, nothing. I even cleared the CMOS and clock settings via the jumpers on my board. Any help? Any help at all? (Please, please do not tell me I need a new motherboard. I am broke, and you may make me cry.)

Also: once it is on, I can't turn it off with the power button, only with the switch on the back.

Have you tested the CMOS battery? ( could have finally drained while the system has been off and some boards wont start without it) if it's ok, and the power connector is making good contact, then sorry bud, but i think it's time to cry.

have you checked to be sure that your CMOS chip is secure? some as you know, are socketed, and could very well slip a bit. it is a long shot , but it is worth a try.

Thanks for the help. It is either my motherboard or my processor that is dead (the led's are stuck on four red, which indicates a processor problem the manual has informed me), so my computer goes in the closet until I can afford a new one. Thanks again.

if you can hear the hard drive spin up then it aint the cpu as the mb will not start up without a cpu. Make sure that your video card is seated properly. Most AGP cards pop out at the back and as you have been doing the power supply that is quite near the agp slot then I bet that is what has hapened.
