How to Identify Type of USB Ports in Laptop?

In Windows XP - Pro and Home - is there a way to find out what type of USB ports you have on your laptop without buying (or downloading) a diagnostics-type program like Sandra?

well if you plug in a USB 2.0 device it *should* tell you its running slow if the port is 1.0/1.1

Look in system properties, device manger, it might say USB 2.0 Root Hub or similar. Or read your motherboards manual!
