HDD Location

Hey
i have 2x Maxtor 7200 rpm hdd's on the same ide cable.

the slave of the 2 has developed this annoying intermittant "humm". i was wondering if by changing the location that this hmm would stop.

so my question is does it matter which way up u have a hdd, im think of switching their places but so not to twist the cable, turn them on their back and use them like that, will this work???

Chances are that it is the actual case or the hdd mounting frame or screw tension or even the other drive position
