Quick CPU question?

Was wondering if anyone could answer a quick question for me?

Recently bought and installed a dvd-rw for my computer, It needs minimum system requirement of Pentium III 800 or above and memory of 256mb minimum.

My computer currently has only 224mb of ram which i will obviously need to upgrade. As I don't know much about CPU Chips my question is will My Current CPU - AMD Athlon XP 2000+ 1.66 GHz be powerful enough to meet the minimum requirement of Pentium III 800.

The minimum system requirement is more for the software which usually comes with the DVD Writer, as you could quite happily put a dvd writer in an old pentium 1 pc if you really wanted, but the software would run like an asmatic ant with heavy shopping. Modern DVD writing software has good CD burn protection build in, when hard drives can't provide the data quick enough for the DVD writer. Your PC is plenty fast enough to do the job.

Thanks for the reply, I'm still having problems trying to get any video files to burn onto DVD. I'm using Nerovision express, It starts to burn the DVD then freezes. I've already upgraded my memory to 512mb. It seems to freeze when Nero tries to show the preview of the file being burned. maybe I'll try a different software - any suggestions anyone?
