cd/dvd drive problem
my brand new cd/dvd drive has stopped working. it is a HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC 4243N for a dell dimension 4600C. it stopped functioning after i inserted a game disc that wasnt formatted for windows xp. the device manager says it is working properly. any help is appreciated

remove it from device manager and let it find it again by scanning for new hardware.

Its usually the registry that goes wrong. If you edit the registry and remove the key for the CD drive, its exactly the same as removing it in device mangler and scanning. Windows is so rubbish, hence why I am moving to linux!
