My Sony DW-D22A won't read or burn CD's

My Sony drive has stopped reading or burning Cd's but it can read and burn DVD's I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. Are there 2 different lenses? I'm kinda p***ed off stupid Sony! Anyone got any idea? Any help would be nice

I too am having the exact same problem, I can read/burn DVD's and it will read commercial CD's (including audio) but it will not read nor burn CD-R. It used to it's just stopped doing so. Can anyone shed some light?

Hi Bookworm, thanks for the suggestion but I tried to run the firmware update and I get a message saying, this update is not intended for your computer model. I believe this update is for a laptop (Sony VAIO). Is there one for a desktop PC?

the new firmware for Sony DW-D22A is available at:
http://dhc014.rpc1.org/indexOEM.htm#DW-D22A. Get the BYS3 version
and flush it with LtnFW.exe program that you can download form
