Epson 680 Problems

Hi all, apologies if I've posted in the wrong forum but I'm having problems with my printer and was hoping someone could help. A few weeks ago I lost colour printing and then a few days later black printing stopped. I tried numerous head cleaning runs which did not help the problem - as a last attempt to resolve the problem I replaced the cartridges (compatibles) only to find that I have not cured it. To compound the problem, I removed the new cartridges to check them out and now my printer thinks they're empty ! Does anyone have any ideas what the source of the problem might be and is there anyway of re-using my new cartridges (which are still full) ?

Before you replace the cartridge, place a strip of selotape over the holes on the bottom or the cartridge may not function correctly.
They should not be removed until registering empty.
That is the sole reason why i dumped my 790. The only way to refill them is by using a "chip charger" which resets the chip so it registers full.
Your printer stopped working because a cartridge was empty, the "clone" cartridges probably had not been reset so they didn't work.
If you want to continue with this printer and run it cheaply, then you need the Zap-it kit from JR Inkjet:
