Exclamation I dissconnected some stuff (on the inside) and dont know where to plug it back in

I was messing around with my other computer and i opened it up and dissconneted some wires inside. When i was done exploring i reconnected everything (or so i thought) and closed it back up.

Now when i turn it on nothing apears on the moniter and and the computers just beeps "beep beep beep" "beep beep beep" "beep beep beep" over and over. i opened it up again and found that some wires were unplugged. i opened it back up again and looked around and now it doesnt even power on >_>

as far as i can tell these are all i can find that are unplugged:

- theres no wires going into the hardrive
- theres are 6 tiny wires that are unplugged that are labled as Speaker, Reset SW, H.D.D Led, Power Led, and 2 really small unlabled ones that are part of the same wire.
- there might be more, but im not sure.

So if anyone can help me, like find an online manual with pictures or somthing it would really help! thx

Hi,

To find you a manual we would need to know what motherboard you have. Tell us what writing you can find on the board exactly as you see it.

I think the reason the machine doesnt power on any more is because you have disconnect the front panel power switch, and maybe even the power cable from the motherboard.

use PC Wizard, Sisoft Sandra or Belarc Advisor to diagnose your pc internals

google them, PC Wizard is freeware

You'll have to plug your power switch cables back in to do this of course, doh

"theres are 6 tiny wires that are unplugged that are labled as Speaker, Reset SW, H.D.D Led, Power Led, and 2 really small unlabled ones that are part of the same wire."

thats what those are lol, so I guess we have catch 22 here, by the sounds of it the board has a VIA chipset, or could possibly be a VIA board, you will need to look real close at the board for a bank of pins, usually 8, these wires attach to, they will have logos like pwr in or pwr+/pwr- etc that will help you identify them.

x = no pin present
() = pin

i need to fill these 13 pins with the plugs
i just dont know the order

speaker: 4 pins long
reset sw: 2 pins long
HDD led: 2 pins long
power led: 3 pins long
single1: 1 pin long
single2: 1 pin long

only 3 things are labled but not very well: "SPK" "PW" "RE"

|()()|
|x x |
|()()||------
|()()|
|()()| this
|()()|
|()()| area
|()()|
|x ()||------
|x x |
|()()|

i also found more info on the board

GA-6VMML that was written in multiple places
rev 1.0

Did you re-connect the hard drive to the Primary IDE (IDE 1) on the mother board?

Look at page 12 in the manual, it has a pic of the motherboard layout. Where you see the slot called "IDE 1" is where you must connect the hard drive to.

Below is a pic of an IDE cable:

You also need to take one of the leads coming from your power supply and connect it to the hard drive.
If the IDE cable (shown above) doesnt have a notch and can be inserted either way then look for a red stripe on one side of the IDE cable, when you insert the cable make sure the red striped side is closest to the power connector on the HDD.

ok well like in your picture. the blue end in on the motherboard. but which one goes into the hardrive the black one or the grey one? because i tried both the grey one and the black one and no mater which i have plugged in it just beeps and still nothing shows one the screen. (the beeping comes from this plastic grate looking thingy anchored on the side of the inside, the little speaker wire that i was talking about earlier is connected to it

and does it matter which thingy comong from the power supply i plug into the hardrive? i got like 4 free ones.

Use the black one (the one on the very end of the cable). As for the power cable, it doesnt matter which one your use just as long as it fits.

Also make sure there is at least one stick of memory installed, like on page 17 of your manual.
