microphone problems

just purchased a desk mike for internet chatting, appears to the rest of the room like I'm talking in a tin shed. .............................reverberance? It was a cheapy, I'll admit, but was advised by the sales guy it was ok...any help on this?

May be feedback from your speakers to the mike. Try moving your speakers and assigning a button to "push to talk" on your mike.

thanks for the info. I suspect that could be the cause however have 7 speakers and its too inconvenient to move them each time i get on chat. maybe if I went to headset and mike attached it would be ok. If so ,any recommendations as to what I should choose? also how do I designate a 'button' to 'talk'. (new to this chat thing).

for the headset: RadioShak brand, cheap yet effective! (about 20$ CND)
The only thing with the headset is, that if it is sensitive and you sit closely to your speakers, the problem will not be changed. Also, sometimes headsets lack the durability of a stand alone unit.
