Dvd/cd-rom Trouble

Okay I just bought a new Toshiba SD-M1712 dvd/cd-Rom drive. For some reason my bios and my XP Pro. won't detect it.

I had my ROM on my Primary Slave..But it wasn't working properly so now I am trying to move it to my Secondary IDE (slave or Master). For some reason I just can't get it to detect.

When I load windows, My drive isn't even in the controll menu or in the device manager.

Is it possible that my IDE isn't working correctly?

Do I need to do something to windows XP to get it to detect?

Also....

- I tried all of the jumper setting(Master, SLave, cable select)

- In the bios I have "auto" detect on for both IDE's

- I even tried to switch my IDE cable

ANY help would be appreciated...this has been driving me crazy........Thanks Adam

When a drive (like HDD or CD-ROM) is set to MASTER, it has to be connected at THE END of the IDE cable.

Hope this helps.

I tried the company's website. No help there it is ASUS. Good mother boards, but bad support. Is it possible that I have a bad pins on my motherboard? Like a bad IDE? I wouldn't even have the first clue how to check if I did...

I don't think it's your motherboard. Try this...

When you start your PC enter the BIOS setup menu. Then select the option for Intergrated Peripherals. Take a screen dump of that then email it to me at...
