GeForce FX 5200 is not working on Windows XP engine

Hi people,

I have a PC with Windows ME and a GeForce FX 5200 installed on it.
I upgraded it to Windows XP Pro, but my video card doesn't worked on it, i have tried to install the drivers, but every time i try to install it, the computer restarts and the windows xp doesn't works anymore, so a have to format it. I have tried with Windows Server 2003, and Windows 98 SE too, and it gives the same problem, apparently my video card only works on Windows ME....

Anyone knows what's happening?

whoa... that's madness. it looks horrible. my friend has an nvidia card and i was on her computer today and i noticed that she has all of these programs on there just to keep the video card functioning correctly. if you got a CD with the video card, try installing the software on that.
oh yes- and one question... have you tried playing any games on it? did any of the games work correctly?

Yuck, nice desktop...have a copy/paste list of things to test from a similar post which I replied to. It'll give you something to do in any case.

* Download and install all the updates for your OS.
* Download spyware and virus scanning software to check for malware on your machine.
* Open your PC, earthing yourself to prevent static discharge on your components, and check that the graphics card is properly seated in your AGP slot.
* Uninstall your current graphics card drivers and go and install the newest ones from the manufacturer's website. They might have decent uninstalling programs for getting rid of graphics card driver software.
* Check that your graphics card drivers are set up properly for your monitor.
* Check that the video cable for your Monitor is not kinked or stretched, which can sometimes produce wierd results on your display. If you mess around with the monitor tilt a lot, the wire can sometimes become damaged if there's little or no slack for it to move in when you're moving the monitor.
* Check that your monitor is properly connected to the graphics card at the back of your machine and securely fix it using the screws on the connector.
* Go and download the latest version of DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft's website, which may fix any directdraw issues with your machine.
* Properly configure DirectX (Start Menu/Run.../"dxdiag") and make sure your PC is working properly by testing the DirectX components.

I once saw the same sort of problem with a screen, and I think it was a monitor problem. If you can test the graphics card on a different monitor, then try that as well.
