Son wants Packard Bell running-Help

Packard Bell boxed away for a couple years. It comes
on but it will only say:

Shut down failure

Diskette drive B failure

Invalid configuration information, please run setup
progrem. Press F1 key to continue, F2 to run the
setup utility

Does nothing.
This is with the setup disk in or out. Machine is off,
insert disk, then turn it on.

Press Crtl/Alt/Delete

This message will come up.

Memory parity interrupt att F000658
Type (S)hut off NMI, (R)eboot, others keys to continue.

Can this be fixed?

Thanks!

Could be bad ram or a corroded socket. Take out the ram being careful to ground yourself and clean things up and reseat it again. Might be a hardware failure but those errors usally point to ram.

Well......... it was purchased in 1993,
it has windows 3.1.
210 MB hard disk
4mb of ram - was upgraded to 12
Intel 486Sx/25MHz microprocessor - also
upraded this to run faster - don't
remember how much

Talked with a guy at work and thinks
it may need an internal battery, will try
that tonight.

Thanks for your interest!
