Hard drive speed help

My hard drive has gone from reading/writing at very quick speeds to now just crawling along when performing certain functions. I downloaded a Hard Drive test application and it says that my drive is only transfering at 3.1MB/sec where my other hard drive transfers at 54.4MB/sec.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should try???
