no audio device and no active media devices

at wits end....

I just installed a new internal DVD burner, created a DVD, tested it with sound and it worked great. AFter that, I moved my computer from one room to the next and now my sound doesn't work

I go to the control panel and it states, "No audio device"

I went to the device manager and there are 6 "!" on the following:
Microsoft Kernel ACoustic Echo CAnceller
Microsoft Kernel DLS synthesizer
Microsoft Kernel DRM Audio scrambler
Microsoft Kernel WAve Audio mixer
MPU-401 Compatible Media device
SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio

I go to the properties of the SoundMAX integrated Digital Audio and here's what's under the following tabs:
General tab: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Properties tab: I click on media mixers and it states no active media mixer devices
Driver tab: Two of the files are not digitally signed
Resources tab: This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem.

I have a feeling my on board sound device went back, but not sure how, by just moving my computer to a diff. room. I will probably have to purchase and install a new sound card.

I am using Windows XP Home version 2002, SP 2 on an HP Pavilion MX50.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I took out the part about who logs in, I don't think my family would want their names floating around the internet. I also thought I'd add that I went into Control Panel, and went to sound, speech, and audio devices. When I went to sound and audio devices, it states that I have No Audio Device. I know this is extremely bad...why is it suddenly not detected, not configured, or corrupted? And also, when I try to use Sound Recorder, it tells me it is being used by another problem. I also thought I'd add that Plug and Play in Device Manager has a yellow exclamation mark on it. I don't know what any of this means, but I do think that they are related to the sound problem and I would really like to have this fixed before September 5, when school starts. I'm only 13 and this is way beyond my computer knowledge.

Uninstall and reinstall your sound drivers if they're showing Error code 39.

Its a software issue.
