Dell 2400

I have Dell 2400 PC P4 640mb of RAM problem Is it's so slow I think it's my hard drive,because it's noise when you open appz or working with files when I work with lots of appz or data my PC slows down to a crow when it's low on RAM HD would go crazy and would take a long time to exit app,because HD speending out of control I have Western Digital Caviar 40GB HD I just don't know what's wrong with my PC I have tryed to defrag cleaned all temp cach files checked for spyware and viruses did clean Install of OS 5 times I am lost

use this program (XPSpeed) it speeds up XP. Its in a strange language but all you do is install it and hten on ur desktop there should be an XPSpeed icon and you double click that and it'll put stuff into your registry. enjoy!

It's probably the hard drive. We have a bunch of Dell desktops at work and have had some hard drive problem with 1 batch of order.

Have you tried running scandisk/chkdsk on the drive to see if it will find and fix the disk error? Do that and run defrag again.

Hard Drive free of errors and test showing it runs at 52mb/s per sec. but it's seems slow to me.
