Hmm

Technically you cant actually just transfer it, but as a general idea, you could ghost it. to do this first get rid of any crap you dont need (Programs, photos etcetc) Empty all your temp files. Then install a copy of Norton Ghost, or Acronis True Image. Use this to create an image of your XP partition. Then burn it off onto a DVD. Once u have the new hard disk set up, just insert the disc, and install across the image and that should be you. This is assuming of course you are ONLY changing the hard disk. If you are in fact changing the CPU or mobo as well, it needs to be reinstalled. Why exactly dont you have the disk? Can you contact the PC manufacturer to get ahold of the disc?

gaj26, you were correct till you said burn it to a DVD!! Why do you need to do that ??? you could add the new hard drive as a slave drive and ghost everything over ..... Ghost does transfer the partition table to the new drive as well so there is no need to burn it to a DVD.

Cheers

No Windows disk

Maybe, but he also said he has no windows disk. Therefore isnt making an actual disk as a backup an extremely good idea?
