Scanner Problem

I just got a scanner from my friend (free!!! cuz he had an extra one) and it included AC Adaptor, Software, and scanner. I plugged it in via USB (o yeah forgot to mention its a UMAX Astra 2100U) and i installed all the necessary drivers (actually they installed themselves cuz the driver for it was included with XP). When i tested it though, the scanner scanned the document i tried but instead of showing me what i tried to scan it was just a big black square instead. Does anyone kno whats wrong?

Did you load the software from the CD, it will most likley have a programe that will allow you to view what you have scanned.

Hope this helps

UMAX Astra 2000P

Did you try to install from UMAX's website?
I have an Astra 2000P (it's about 7 years old) on XP, and it works fine except for a little yellow line on the side. I have no idea if those drivers would work for you, but I could email them to you.

RTFM? I tried entering that into run but nothing happened so I'm guessing its not a run command. What exactly is RTFM?
