Computer freezing randomly

Hello people!

I have a problem with my computer freezing randomly. Often in games, but also sometimes while watching films, or even in sleep-mode.

My setup:

Intel Pentium 4 2,8 Prescott (Cooled by a Arctic Cooling Freeze CPU cooler)
ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe motherboard
1024 MB "no-name" DDR RAM (1xPC2700 and 1xPC3200)
Sapphire Radeon X800XL Graphix card
100+160 GB WD HDD's
Enermax-thingy power supply of good quality (350 W)

The problem is something that I've never experienced before, so I wanted to try to find a solution here.

The problem accured a few days ago, after transporting my computer from my girlfriends house and home.

I've reinstalled Windows (XP Pro) with all updates, and runned antivirus (AVG) plus three spyware removers (Spybot, Ad-Aware and Giant), so the chance that the problem is software related is slim.

I've checked that RAM-modules and cpu-fan are attatched, so it's probably not one of those. I'm using Motherboard Monitor, and at one of the freezes, it showed 54 degrees CPU and 32 degrees System (Celsius that is). The CPU is approx. 40-50 degrees Celsius typical. (For those not familiar to celsius, 50 degrees is 122 degrees Fahrenheit.) So it does not seem to be a cooling problem either. Also the GPU-fan runs as it should.

The way it freezes is sometimes odd. I play Guild Wars a lot, and one time I came back to the computer with GW running, and the computer had frozen. The thing was that the graphical effects were still running, and i could even open some menues, but could not move (and i believe the mouse was "frozen"). A few seconds later it all froze totally.

Sometimes the computer runs for a fairly long time before freezing, sometimes it freezes right away. And the only way to fix it, is by pushing the ol' reset button.

Can anyone help me with this? Think I included it all, but let me know if you need more info.

Radeon Video card.....

If you haven't updated the driver on your video card go to www.ati.com and click on drivers & software. Select your current OS and click on Radeon. Download the latest Catalyst or Multimedia driver for your video card.

the issue there is very simple but complex for you to handle, if that is my pc i will first format the system and check the hardware component to confirmed if they are in order and the programmes that is installed and check the system registering to know if it is overclocking or not, and lastly i will increase the memory but in increasing the memory check if it will support it before analyzing

Hiya guys ,i had exactly the same trouble ,blizzard or wow told me to do several differant things but it kept freezing and restarting at critical moments , so i decided to try something myself . I completly restarted again doing a system restore back to factory settings, but instead of running from there i went one further by deleting all of the program files still left in the folder ie wow, nero and so on until i was left with original factory programs only, after 3 hours the system was clear of all installed drivers and programs i had put on over the past 24 months, i reinstalled only the drivers i needed for the upgraded sound and graphics card, reinstalled the games from scratch, downloaded the patches for the games , not by disc but from the web site, and guess what , my computer hasnt froze or restarted once since, the problem was diagnosed that the drivers were clashing from all the diff cards i had put in and if you do this you will be back up and running like i am, its the only way as i had tried for weeks doing diff things.
