DVD/RW problems

I have recently upgraded from a DVD-ROM drive to a DVD/RW. I now have a strange problem which I hope someone can throw some light on.

I find that I can read data DVD’s, and play movies quite happily. However, I can only write to the DVD/RW through I-Tunes. Windows does not recognise it as a recordable drive. It does not appear on the send-to menu either.

Is there a missing or corrupt driver perhaps? My system consists of a Fujitsu-Siemens 1.7GHz with 512 Mb RAM. I have a Maxtor 30Gb HDD as Master and 80Gb Western Digital as Slave on the Primary IDE channel. The secondary channel has a CD/RW (I think it’s a Samsung) as master, and the MSI DR16-B2 DVD/RW as slave.
I am running Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2 installed.
