Red face Burnt Hard Drives

I have an external hard disk case that plugs into my USB port on my PC. This AM two hard drives were burnt.. How would I figure out if the hard disks were bad, or if the case is the culprit?

Burnt as in, actually set aflame? If so, i would say look at all parts and try to figure out were the fire started at..
