Unhappy Dvd Rom Combo Problem!

Hi All,

I have a big problem with my DVD-Rom Combo - 52x32x52x16 Drive.

I worked fine unitil I have uninstalled Norton Internet Security, suddenly I cant read, write any Dvd's/Audio or any Cd's.

Xp sees my Dvd/Cd Rom in explorer, but when I insert a CD or DVD and double clicl on it, it shows nothing.

I have tried reinstalling , rolling back the driver and uninstall it. I have even done a system restore? The light on the drive flashes when the pc powers up, but nothing happens.

Could anyone please give me some advice. It will be greatly appreciated

Kindest Regards,

I would doubt that this is a problem originating from uninstalling Norton AutoX.
It sounds like the same problem i have had recently, the drive failing. The best way to check it, is to try and borrow another drive off someone and see if that works.

You could also search for any firmware updates for your drive as well.

Thank you Vidster: I appreciate your suggestion. I would however still appreciate any other suggestions.
