external usb drives don't need to be set as master or slave. each usb port and device is independent of other usb devices, so slave/master is irrelevant. USB drives will work regardless of how the jumper is set.
I think that I need to change my problem a little.
My external hard drive has been installed as local hard drive and not a removeable hard drive. I need to either uninstall it or change a setting so that it can be a removable drive again so that I can shut it off using the saftely remove hardware function of windows without shutting down my computer.
I don't know how to do this and need any help if possible.
