Question Lost mouse in XP Pro...

Since yesterday, I have completely lost the use of my mouse?! All was well when I closed down my XP Pro PC last night but on boot-up this morning I have no mouse attached to my PC?!

I have done the usual checks and found that Control Panel>Mouse>Hardware does not list any mouse attached to my PC - only my Genius EasyPen serial tablet, which works without any problems at all. Where can my mouse have disappeared to??

By the looks of it, the drivers for my mouse have been wiped from my system? How can I reinstall these drivers in XP for my bog-standard PS2 mouse to work again?

Can anyone please advise??

Serial or USB mouse does not need driver for Windows XP.. The driver is built-in to the operating system.
Chances are that you mouse just died. A decent USB mouse is about $15 US.

Cheers

I have been able to resolve the situation with my PS2 mouse and have posted the results at the following link: IntelliPoint 5.2 Mouse Software for Windows XP and 2000
