canon canoscan 3000 scanner

I have installed the scanner as instructed from the supplied software disc.
When I try to scan I get error message "unable to select twain source".
I have updated the driver, and the scanner is in device manager as functioning ok but when in control panel" cameras/scanners" it does not appear.
The scanner is connected directly to U.S.B. port in computer which is running windows 98se. Any help please

Hi, If you have more than one device (Scanner and Camera?) you will have to select the device you want to use. Don't know about your scanner program, but in any good graphics program you would be using something like "ACQUIRE" to scan. Select Device would be in the same menu with Acquire. Luck, Jim
