Exclamation Static problem?

I just inistalled some ram my friend had and was so excited to put them in my computer and test it out that I think i Static Shocked the part where ethernet cord came in. I think i saw some dust and tried to brush it away and when i bot'ed up and with everything pluged in the computer said that i wasnt connected when the cord is connected to the computer.

I still have another year on my warrinty so i was thinking about sending it in soon.

I did not disconnect any of the cords comming into the compter IE power supply and internt cord like i was supposed to.

But before i do i was gonna look to see if there was anything i could do for my computer, but i dont think i'm gonna find anything.

I did the Netword adaptor test to see if it was working. Everything passes except for the link when the network cable was plugged in and into my campus wall. When the network cable is in my computer the light that blinks when you plug it in isnt lighting up. That part might still be working because i did something to make a light near the ethernet cord light up.

Any ideas???

Go into device manager (right click on my computer, left click on hardware, left on device manager, left on network adapters, right click on the adapter card (if it's showing) and check properties ..... does it say its working properly? I would try unistalling, reboot the computer and it should find it. Then see if your connection comes back.

It may be detecting it, but it may not be working ...... can you borrow one from someone else and swap out to see if it works then?
