Unhappy Disk I/O Error on drive a:

I am trying to boot my pc from a bootable diskette on drive a:

However I am getting the following message: Disk I/O Error Replace disk...

The a: drive does work because I can view the contents of the diskette from 'my computer'.

I have tried changing the drive with one that I know works, but I get the same message. I have also checked that the drivers are all up to date and they are fine too.

This is happening on a Dell Dimension 4300 running XP Pro. I have an identical machine which works fine.

Please Help.

Have you checked to make sure the floppy disk is bootable? Try it on another computer and try another disk that boots on another computer. Luck, Jim

EDIT: Reading back I see that you may have already tried this. If the disk booted on the other machine then it should be booting on the first one if you can read it. Jim
