New install of Windows XP - Ethernet Adapter "cannot start" (Code 10)
I've got a new installation of Windows XP SP1 and the Linksys LNE100TX(v5) Adapter shows a message in the Device Status window "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
I tried uninstalling and installing the latest driver for the ethernet card which I got off of linksys.com, but that did not change the situation. Originally there was a "network controller" showing up in other devices, and I assumed that had something to with the problem, but I figured out that was a wireless adapter and I removed that and it no longer shows up on the list, but the main problem still persists.
I also need to install my video and audio card drivers, but I was going to do that after I fixed network card problem (if only because it will be easier to fix once I have internet access.)
