Adding An Extra Parallel Port!!!

Hi there,

I am trying to add some more parallel ports to a computer, so I can have up to 7 printers running from the one PC.

Windows has recognised all 7 on my parallel ports, however, when I view them in Device Manager, it reads like this:

ECP Printer Port (LPT1) - (motherboad)
NetMos PCI ECP Parallel Port (LPT2) - (new PCI card)
NetMos PCI ECP Parallel Port (LPT3) - (new PCI card)
NetMos PCI ECP Parallel Port (LPT4) - (new PCI card)
NetMos PCI ECP Parallel Port (LPT4) - (second port on new PCI card)
NetMos PCI ECP Parallel Port (LPT4) - (second port on new PCI card)
NetMos PCI ECP Parallel Port (LPT4) - (second port on new PCI card)

Basically I need to change the last 3 ports to ascending LPT numbers - 5,6 & 7.

I have added those extra ports into the registry so I have LPT1 to LPT7, however I cannot tie the ports up.

Going into the properties of one of the cards through device manager, I can click on the 'Port Settings' tab which gives you the option to select the LPT Port Number - but this only goes up to LPT3!!!

I am running windows XP, with 3 additional parallel port cards which have two ports each.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I haven't used extra parallel ports for years, but all I used had jumpers on the board to set the LPT address. There are 8 for sure. Check the boards again. If each port is set to a unique address Windows should take care of the rest. Good Luck, Jim
