Wireless router killing connection
Well, I am having a bit of a problem that I havent been able to solve. My setup is like this: I've got a netgear rt314 router (sort of old). I also have a Linksys 802.11g Wireless router connected to it. My desktops are connected through ethernet into the netgear, and my laptops are connected wirelessly.
Yesterday, out of nowhere, the internet stops working. I determine that it is not SBC's problem (i have dsl) and I reboot my router. The connection starts working once again, and I can connect to internet and whatnot. However, 5 minutes later, it stops working again. I have checked that the dns servers are working properly, and nothing seems to be wrong otherwise. I go on to try unplugging the wireless router, reboot the netgear router, and check again. It works, and I can connect to internet and it stays up permanantly (it doesnt quit on me 5 minutes later).
If I try to plug the wireless back in, it works, and then stops working 5 minutes later, every time. Once I unplug the wireless and reboot the netgear, it is fine again. Also, I tried new cables with the wireless but it doesnt help.
From here, what can I check? If I need to replace something, should it be the netgear, or the wireless? note that I have never had problems with either of them before. thanks for any help.
